Why an Education Beat Blog?
I grew up in a household of educators. My mom, dad, both my grandfathers and even one of my great grandmothers were or are educators. At the dinner table, the conversation revolved and still revolves around what my sister and I are learning about in our lives. We talk about the classes we are taking and the experiences we’re having outside of the classroom. I learning from an early age that education is fundamental for change and growth to occur.
The generations that are going through grade school and college are the ones that will determine how America will change in the future. Education has the responsibility to prepare these generations to be contributing members of society. I have always been passionate about education and the important role it plays in every aspect of a person’s life and in the success of a nation.
I have recently been involved in Student Affairs work and am intrigued by how universities are implementing diversity and inclusion. That being said, with this blog I will evaluate diversity and inclusion trends and efforts universities are introducing to the higher education field in this politically heated climate where diversity and inclusion initiatives are mistaken for a political agenda.
